Falls of Dudhsagar Visit

The huge Dudhsagar falls, famous for its beautiful panoramas, has managed to secure a spot among Asia’s ten largest waterfalls, tumbling from a height of 1017ft. The term “sea of milk” refers to the white mist formed when water cascades down to the natural pool of peaceful water created at the base of the falls.

The history

According to folklore, a bathing princess dumped the milk in a waterfall to keep a stranger from seeing her modesty. You will be captivated by the beautiful green forest known as Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, which is also home to several animal and bird species.

The rough vehicle safari to the waterfall and the time spent at the waterfall will leave you revitalised. So have your camera gear at the ready to record the amazing moments you make along the way.

Jeep Safari Day Trip to Dudhsagar Falls

The spectacular Dudhsagar Waterfalls are located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park in Sanguem Taluka, on the luxuriant and evergreen trees of the Western Ghats.

The Mandovi River flows through the Western Ghats and gushes down from a height of 1017 feet from the steep side of the mountains, providing travellers with a beautiful vista.

Due to its milk-like colour, Dudhsagar is known as the “sea of milk”. Gushing water from about 300 metres above is quite hypnotic. It appears to be milk being poured from the tops of mountain ranges.

It is well known that Dudhsagar falls become more hypnotic during the monsoon season, and because it is the tourist season, it is the safest access. Many trains travel through this magnificent splendour, but few stop in Dudhsagar.

Cost of a Full-Day Trip to Dudhsagar Falls

Price starts at Rs. 1699/- per person and kid aged 3 years and above. This excursion includes jeep rental, transportation (pickup and drop-off at the hotel), and waterfall admission fees with a guided tour.

Goa wildlife exploration, buffet lunch, and spice farm We never fail to make the Dudhsagar waterfall excursion unforgettable.

Getting to the Falls

This amazing location can only be reached on foot or by rail. There is also a somewhat rocky route that is only appropriate for four-wheel drive cars, but tourists must still hike around 1km to reach the foot of the falls. There are jeeps available for hiring that cost around Rs. 1200* and can carry 6 persons at a time; the driver then waits for an hour and a half at the drop-off spot before returning the guests.

The most difficult walk begins in the town of Kuveshi. However, this walk is not possible during the monsoon season since the path crosses the Mandovi, which is too harsh and swollen during the monsoon season.

There is also an 11-kilometre journey that begins at the Kulhem/Collem railway station and provides travellers a lovely view of the Ghats and valleys.

The popular excursions

One of the most popular tourist excursions begins at Castle Rock station in Karnataka. This is a 14-kilometre hike in tough terrain, so come prepared. There are no sites near the falls where food or water can be purchased, so visitors should bring their own.

From September to May, the excursions frequently recommend making the journey. It is an all-day event, complete with a picnic lunch surrounded by the natural grandeur of the falls. Some excursions even include a one-night stay at the base of the falls, sleeping in tents in the open air.

During the monsoon season, hikes are the only way to approach the waterfall because it is brimming with runoff from the slopes, making vehicle navigation nearly inaccessible. Although getting to the falls during the monsoon season is challenging, the sheer majesty and magnificence of this natural wonder are worth the effort.
