8 Christmas Accent Pieces To Make Your Home Holiday-Ready
Music cue, “it’s the most beautiful time of the year.” Another year is ending, and we’re celebrating the holiday again with the world returning to its Christmas traditions. We can say that 2022 has been a year where the world is learning to walk back on its feet while embracing the changes the pandemic has brought.
Unlike in 2020 and 2021, people are more open to celebrating the holidays with their family and friends again this year. And that means holiday traditions, gifting, and designing are back on track again. With all of the price increases and unexpected news, this year brought, isn’t it fun to make your home holiday-ready to feel the Christmas spirit?
As you get older, you feel the magic of the Christmas spirit less than you used to when you were younger. But that doesn’t mean you should stop and let the holidays drift away without enjoying the season. Since Christmas only happens once a year, why don’t you take the time to make the season alive by starting in your home? With that, here are eight Christmas accent pieces you can use to make your home holiday-ready.
1 – Carpets
Many places in the world celebrate Christmas in an icy, cold season. If you love watching Western Christmas movies, you’re likely familiar with how they decorate their homes during the season. And without any doubt, carpets are a huge part of that holiday-theme interior.
Whether or not you’re spending Christmas in a four-season country, use carpets to style your home for the holiday. If your goal is to turn your house into a cosy and winter-like place like in the movies, carpets will help you. Many carpet shops online offer various designs that fit any style. If you want one that you can use on any occasion, choose a red carpet with a simple pattern as a safe choice.
2 – Christmas wreath
One of the pieces that immediately tells you it’s Christmas is a wreath. A wreath is a circular decor with a leaf material representing eternal life, making it an iconic Christmas decor. During the Advent season, Catholics place four candles on the wreath representing the coming of Jesus Christ. Also, you don’t have to be a Christian to use a Christmas wreath. So if you’re having second thoughts about buying one, here’s your signal to buy one.
Christmas wreaths are easy to style and can make your home look holiday-ready effortlessly. You can hang one on your door, fireplace, or window. If you have a plain wreath, try designing it with red ribbons and flowers to add life and make it holiday-ready.
3 – Christmas lights
Another highlight of the Christmas holiday is the lights and parade shows. Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, seeing illuminations during this season is heartwarming. Christmas lights have the magic to make even the busiest adults feel the Christmas spirit effortlessly.
If you feel like your house still lacks that Christmas feel you’re trying to achieve, maybe all you need is to put in some lights. You can easily decorate your home with lights by outlining your windows, drawers, and walls. Different light colours could be nice too if you want that colourful and lively feel. But if you’re leaning towards the minimalist style, white Christmas lights are enough.
4 – Santa-related displays and art pieces
Aside from Christmas trees, hot chocolate, and snow, Christmas is incomplete without Santa Claus. It’s safe to say that Santa Claus is the ultimate Christmas symbol and face that kids love. It won’t hurt to believe that Santa’s coming to your town to surprise you with your wishlist.
Thankfully, many Santa-related displays and art pieces are available for home use. If you’re not a fan of displaying Santa’s face, you can use Santa socks and hats to hang in your home. Hang those Santa socks in your fireplace for a cosy living space.
5 – Snowflake decorations (if you’re not into the typical red-themed Christmas)
The classic and typical Christmas designs mostly use the colours red and green. But aside from those two, a white and blue Christmas is the other colour combination many people love. If you’re not into the typical red-themed Christmas, you can start with snowflake decorations to achieve the white Christmas feel.
There are many affordable snowflake crafts you can buy online as your decoration. The great thing about this decor is that you don’t have to spend much to achieve a white Christmas theme. You can also add snowflake designs to your Christmas balls to complete the winter look.
6 – Snowglobes
If you love entertaining guests in your living area or love hosting a chill, sit-down holiday gathering, consider having snowglobes around. Putting snowglobes on your coffee and side tables are great accent pieces if you’re after a white Christmas theme.
If you’re only planning to style one area of your house, let’s say your living room, it would be nice to have three to four different snowglobes on your fireplace. If you have a shelf above your fireplace or television, snowglobes and Santa socks would be perfect accent decorations.
7 – Christmas village miniatures
Another holiday accent decor that many kids love is Christmas village miniatures. They’re loved by many that there are even museums and places for them during the holidays. The good news is, you don’t have to go out to look and enjoy them this Christmas. Why? Because you can buy one and set it up in your home.
Some have Christmas village miniatures with moving trains, Santas, and people. If you want to go extra, you can buy a moving village miniature set that you can display in your home every Christmas. But before you buy one, make sure you already have the place where you’ll be placing the set. Your guests will surely love and enjoy this once you display it nicely.
8 – Christmas tree
Last but not least is a Christmas tree. What is Christmas without trees and Santa Claus, really? Some people love to buy real trees for Christmas. But that can be costly if you consider spending on it yearly. Others, on the other hand, stick to one plastic tree that they style and decorate yearly.
If you’re not a fan of styling the house with different ornaments, why don’t you make it up by styling and putting up a Christmas tree? Having one could start a Christmas gift-giving tradition in your family if you don’t have one yet. The tree could also be your family’s signature backdrop when taking your yearly holiday photo. Whatever size, colour, and styling you plan to do with your tree, you’ll never go wrong with setting up a Christmas tree.
One or a combination of all these could work when you style them nicely.
The Christmas season can be hectic enough just by thinking of all the gifts and events you have on your list. But that doesn’t mean you should no longer transform your home into the holidays. Even one Christmas ornament would be enough when you style it accordingly. If you have the budget, it would be great to have all eight as your decorations.
But then again, Christmas is all about giving and spending time with the people you love. So don’t break your bank account trying to style your home impractically. The secret is to style them nicely and appropriately, to make you stop and remember that the holidays are just around the corner.
